Lift a hand. Light a heart.

Ti-Ratana Welfare Society LogoTi-Ratana is a community centre created for the betterment of lives. A centre of hope, sharing and growth that caters to the needs of children, young people and senior citizens, regardless of race or creed.

In these times of haste, stress and pressure, we have created Ti-Ratana to be a sanctuary, a centre of hope for the hopeless and the helpless, a place of rest for the infirm or the healthy, a place to learn and grow, love, share or just be.

Lift a hand. Light a heart. That's the core concept of Ti-Ratana.

Ti-Ratana SanctuaryAbout Us

Ti-Ratana Welfare Society is a community service society set up in the spirit of compassion to both serve and provide shelter, education and care to the underprivileged members of the community.

It is also a voluntary, not-for-profit, non-partisan and non-denominational organisation offering a wide scope of community services.

Our History

Rev. K. DhammaratanaIt all began with a dream, a monk's dream of offering assistance and care for the underprivileged. That monk, the founder of this society, is The Most Venerable Kirinde Dhammaratana Maha Nayaka Thera, the Chief High Priest of Malaysia.

Over the years, Chief Reverend referred many people who came in search of help, counseling and shelter from the Buddhist Maha Vihara in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur , to other government and non-governmental organizations. Seeing much of this, Chief Reverend started to entertain the idea of setting up a sanctuary First Orpahanage Buildingto offer various forms of direct assistance and services to those in need as well as the general public. A sanctuary would also allow the opportunity for the Buddhist community to contribute to the well-being of our society as a whole.

Chief Reverend shared his dream with others, and through his hard work and tireless encouragements, many professionals and donors stepped forward to offer their services and contributions to make that dream come true.

Hence, the Ti-Ratana Welfare Society was formed and it was registered on the 9th of February 1994. In 1996, a three-storey building was acquired through the generosity of a donor and the Ti-Ratana Children's Home was finally established and declared open by the National Unity and Opening - 1996Social Welfare Minister YB Datuk Paduka Hajjah Zaleha bte Ismail on 21st June 1997.

From its humble beginnings of one Home, the Society had, through years of hard work, managed to expand its services and programmes after acquiring a cluster of buildings at Salak South Bahru (Desa Petaling), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Who runs Ti-Ratana? And how?

A council of volunteers manages Ti-Ratana. These volunteers consist of committed professionals who offer their services free of charge.

The day-to-day running of the centres, and the organisation & facilitaties are undertaken by trained and experienced personnel. Some are paid a nominal sum but most are unpaid volunteers.

Ti-Ratana is financed by your direct contributions to the Society. Activities to raise funds are organised occasionally. As such, we need your continuous financial support in order to run the Society. Apart from monetary support, your contribution in terms of time, knowledge, voluntary work, etc. are extremely important to the success of Ti-Ratana.
