TRYBS is the abbreviation of Ti-Ratana Youth Buddhist Section. TRYBS started in 1999 and is part of the Ti-Ratana Buddhist Society. However, the Ti-Ratana Welfare Society was in existance since 1997, aTRYBS Photond most of the early members and committees of TRYBS was already organizing activities for Reverend Dhammaratana before TRYBS was officiated. One such example is Sayonara Camp- a yearly youth camp held at the end of the year which has been an on-going activity for at least fourteen years although TRYBS was only officiated in 1999.

TRYBS PhotoReverend Dhammaratana is the spiritual advisor for TRYBS, and the youth section's main purpose was to build up the Buddhist youth in community by allowing them to develop skills, learn a little about the Dhamma and expounding it, and at the same time, enjoy themselves (have FUN!) whilst carrying out activities.

Initially the committees for TRYBS wanted to name it TRIBES (stand for Ti-Ratana International Buddhist Elite Scholar) but some felt that the name was too complicated although it served the vision for the group to expand internationally and not just focus in Malaysia.

Hence, it was settled that Ti-Ratana Youth Buddhist Section - TRYBS was a simple enough name for people to identify us.
